Announcing a new version of Sacred Rhythms!

Dear friends,

The last time I wrote to you, back in October, the email I sent was titled Shifting Sands. I could not have imagined then just HOW MUCH the sands can shift in 6 months! But I'm guessing that you feel it too, personally (not to mention witnessing the collective shifts).

I won't bore you with the details, but here is where I stand today: Sacred Rhythms is "closing her doors." My last official Prenatal Yoga class was May 18. I am not taking any more private clients. My website will be online for a few more months. The decision has been difficult, a bit overdue, but also very clear.

This 12 year chapter is over. And a new open is opening.

I am now officially the Communications Director at Irving Park United Methodist Church - a job that is providing much needed financial stability, in hours that still allow me to be home with my children after school. It is also creating space for a kind of financial nervous system reset from the fray of solopreneurship. I'm practicing a new relationship with money. And a new way of relating to customers. Maybe even a new way of relating to women in general.

Lest you think I could totally settle into a desk job, remember that I am a creative at my core. And the real reason I'm writing is to invite you to stick around for this new expression of sacred rhythms!

I am working with a new partner to create an oracle deck!

The Feminine Mysteries Oracle deck is a collaborative project between artist Dawn Leonard (me) and author Veronica Garcia de Ibarra (of Nomadic Oracle) that seeks to illuminate the lived experiences of women. It will have 52 cards in 4 suits: Maiden, Mother, Maga (Wise Woman) and Matriarch.

What I think will make this deck truly unique - besides the subject matter - is that it is collaborative at every level.

I am painting (by hand, with no generative AI) 52 cards, featuring real women. Then we are interviewing these women to share their lived experience of womanhood for our comprehensive guide book. When the cards are all painted and digitized, and the manuscripts are written, we will launch a Kickstarter campaign to have them printed.

Do you want to be part of this project and journey!? Here is how you can help:

  1. Stay subscribed to this email list. We will keep you informed and inspired as we go (Its ok, I'll forgive you if this isn't your thing and you decide you need to unsubscribe). We will write to you about once a month as we are getting started.
  2. Follow us on Instagram and share our social media.
  3. Be a model! We are especially looking for BIPOC women, but we need women of all ages, sizes, shapes and colors! Use this form to express your interest in modeling for the deck.

I am about 8 cards into the deck, so I've got a long way to go! And I feel busier than ever! But this project must be pursued! I hope you will stick around! If you have comments or questions, hit reply to this message.

Here's to weaving (and painting) a new world that honors the sacred rhythms of womanhood.

Blessings,
Dawn and Veronica

Feminine Mysteries Oracle Dear friends, I was listening to some reporting on the radio about Linsday Clancey and how this is bringing forward the conversation about maternal mental health. My friend Rachel used the word revenant which is generally defined as someone who returns (to life). That she "returned" to expose an invisible but systemic flaw so that we might root out the problem. In the radio piece the expert said that this highlights the fact that there is nothing specific in the DSM...

Feminine Mysteries Oracle Dear friends, [from Dawn] I’ve started writing emails to you a few times in the last couple of weeks and every time I get stuck because there’s something that needs to be said at the outset, but it feels like a hard thing to say because I could easily be misunderstood. I ask you to hear this with an open mind because I am saying it with an open heart. I’ve listened to a lot of people that I respect on this topic and I’ve tuned in to my inner sense of truth. I’m...

Feminine Mysteries Oracle Dear friends, Today, we will introduce you to Veronica: I’m Veronica, though some know me as Nomadic Oracle, Veronica Monique. I first picked up a tarot deck when I was seventeen out of pure curiosity. What I didn’t realize at the time was that tarot would become one of the tools that helped me better understand myself and the world around me. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been deeply sensitive to the emotions and energies of others. Tarot helped me develop...
