⭕️ Its really about the ⭕️ female nervous system

Dear friends,

When you walk into a room full of strangers, and your body has a response that is instantaneous, sometimes subtle and totally out of the control of your rational mind, do you feel confident? Or terrified? Or like you WANT to ACT confident, but you just can't get yourself to approach a group of women standing and laughing together?

What about when you walk into your favorite coffee shop and the barista greets you by name? That has a totally different feel!

When I say its about the female nervous system, I might boil it down to where and how you feel safe.

As women/female bodied, our hormones have a strong influence on how we feel. Like it or not, our hormones have a lot to do with how we interact with the world and flow with life. This is compounded by our socialization.

As young girls we are socialized to be nice, to please others, to help people get along with each other. As women then, the hormones of estrogen, oxytocin, etc help this system along because these are bonding hormones! As we age and estrogen drops, we move into the proverbial bitch phase where perimenopause says we just don't give a shit anymore about what other people think of us!

So that is what I'm talking about when I say "the female nervous system."

...

So, I know that "MotherCircle" has the word "circle" in the title, but this is actually more of a CLASS about the female nervous system through the lens of motherhood.

After attending MotherCircle online THREE times with Kimberly Johnson and Jessica Connolly, I took their two month training. We dove into each of the eight topics that MotherCircle covers to be able to teach and facilitate conversation and repair.

For example, in week three you will learn about postpartum through the lens of the female nervous system. In week six, you will learn about pleasure and intimacy after birth through the lens of the female nervous system. There is a class specifically on the female nervous system, and a class that create space for birth trauma repair through community. You can find a breakdown of all the classes on my landing page.

Yes, there are many elements of being in circle to this experience. And we lay the foundation of our shared time with clear guidelines so that the space feels safe enough to be vulnerable (to the degree that you feel comfortable).

After leading MotherCircle four times already, I can say that each time I lead it, even *I* find more depth to the content. It never gets old!

If you're curious about MotherCircle, or what I mean by the female nervous system, you have to join our free class!

You'll get to know me (if you don't already) and how I hold space. And you'll get a feel for how MotherCircle works and feels.

Skills and Practices for the New Era of Motherhood

  • A free class for moms of children of any age
  • We will practice nervous system skills for grounding, feeling all the feelings and moving through tough times as a community of mothers
  • This is a self-care, mental-health kind of class where you get to focus on yourself (children are welcome in the free class, but MotherCircle is just for women)
  • Sunday, September 14, 1- 2:30pm at Find Your Flow

Even if you know you can't attend (or don't want to attend) all of MotherCircle, you are welcome in this class! And please bring a friend!

Blessings and stay grounded,
Dawn

Feminine Mysteries Oracle Dear friends, I was listening to some reporting on the radio about Linsday Clancey and how this is bringing forward the conversation about maternal mental health. My friend Rachel used the word revenant which is generally defined as someone who returns (to life). That she "returned" to expose an invisible but systemic flaw so that we might root out the problem. In the radio piece the expert said that this highlights the fact that there is nothing specific in the DSM...

Feminine Mysteries Oracle Dear friends, [from Dawn] I’ve started writing emails to you a few times in the last couple of weeks and every time I get stuck because there’s something that needs to be said at the outset, but it feels like a hard thing to say because I could easily be misunderstood. I ask you to hear this with an open mind because I am saying it with an open heart. I’ve listened to a lot of people that I respect on this topic and I’ve tuned in to my inner sense of truth. I’m...

Feminine Mysteries Oracle Dear friends, Today, we will introduce you to Veronica: I’m Veronica, though some know me as Nomadic Oracle, Veronica Monique. I first picked up a tarot deck when I was seventeen out of pure curiosity. What I didn’t realize at the time was that tarot would become one of the tools that helped me better understand myself and the world around me. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been deeply sensitive to the emotions and energies of others. Tarot helped me develop...
